Leon “Klay” and Janice

Pine Mountain, GA, United States

After 4 years of dating, I was lucky enough to marry my best friend. We were married on The Scarborough’s property at the SaultoPaul Chapel in Pine Mountain, Georgia. This church was so uniquely different to me in that it was moved from Nova Scotia, Canada piece by piece. I loved that we had a small wedding that gave it an intimate, relaxed feel. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to start our new life together.

We were married at Serenbe, a sustainable farm resort in rural Georgia. We rented the entire resort to create an intimate weekend affair for our guests with many scheduled activities. The weather was flawless. The ceremony was held in a field under a fully bloomed lilac tree while a classical guitar played. I was barefoot, carried peonies, and wore a birdcage veil. The reception was under an open-air lakefront pavilion with an 8-piece Motown band. A firework show finished the night. My dog was in the wedding and wore a flower made from lace from my gown.

During what would be my final bridal appointment, I told the consultant, the ruffled JLM dress on the mannequin caught my eye. As I sat in the dressing room explaining I was looking for a “non strapless” gown, the consultant began pulling dresses and the ruffled JLM dress slipped our minds. It wasn’t until the end, that I remembered the ruffled dress that i originally saw! When I put it on, it was the first time, I could not stop smiling! It was then my mother yelled out “It’s about time you made that face! That is her dress!”

Derek and I met a few years ago after being set-up by an unusual matchmaker…his mom. After three years of dating long distance, we couldn’t have been more excited to get married. I am from a small town in East Texas and he grew up in Charlotte, N.C., but we knew we wanted to get married in Vero Beach, FL. Derek and I wanted to have a full weekend of celebrations and provide a mini beach vacation for all of our guests.

We got married at the Bonnet Island Estate near Long Beach Island, NJ on one of the hottest days of the year. It was 107 degrees! Thankfully it was sunny and we had so much fun celebrating with our friends and family. I absolutely loved my dress! The sweetheart neckline, ribbon and the flowers provided just enough interest for the top of the dress while the detailing along the bottom and up the entire back was just beautiful. I also ordered extra flowers to make into a hairpiece. It tied everything together.

Calgary, Canada
Being a bride was a wonderful experience and I am so happy to have had my day. I loved my dress and the way I felt in it. We had our ceremony and reception at the Art Gallery of Calgary. We loved the contemporary feel of the high ceilings and open stairwell. We were very focused on the flow of the wedding and the layout of the gallery seemed to complement our ideas beautifully. The ceremony for me is a blur of emotions but I loved walking back down the aisle as Mrs. Armstrong. It was truly an amazing day.

Stephen and Audra

Waitsfield, VT, United States
My wedding took place during peak foliage season in Vermont, which was the perfect destination getaway for our family and friends. The vintage, romantic style of Jim Hjelm and the timeless French lace wonderfully complimented our rustic and autumnal wedding décor. My wedding dress was also the perfect canvas for the few heirloom items I wore to represent the strong women in my family. Without a doubt, my Jim Hjelm wedding gown was THE best investment. It truly made me feel like the confident and classically elegant bride I always dreamed of being on my wedding day!

Tony and Vanessa

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Tony and I are busy resident physicians so for our wedding we envisioned something relaxing, personalized and unique. We very infrequently get vacation time so the thought of a destination wedding with our close family and friends in attendance was a logical choice. We got married on April 26, 2011 on the beach on the grounds of the fabulous Cabo Surf Hotel. Our wedding day far exceeded our wildest hopes and dreams and was a truly memorable event that we will never forget!

Adam and Rosana

Santa Maria , CA, United States
Traditional with equal measures of country and Chic:
For long time sweethearts and Santa Barbara locals Rosana and Adam they envisioned for their day something very traditional. A day like the many family weddings they had been to growing up. An event blending Rosana’s very traditional first generation Mexican-American upbringing and Adam’s more relaxed 4th generation experience. Of course their shared love of everything country would have to come through and a prominent position for Gunner their beloved four legged companion would have to be arranged.

Carl and Dana

Washingtonville, NY, United States
After much debating about where to get married, we finally decided on a quaint, NY winery close to my parents home, the Brotherhood Winery. It tied in with our California roots, but allowed us to have our wedding so that family and friends did not have to travel far! I tried on dresses when we first got engaged and fell in love with a lacey Jim Hjelm dress. Not having a date, I walked away. Three and a half years later (and a ton of rain) we finally tied the knot! I wore my dream dress and married my prince!

Tucker and Selena

Chattanooga, TN, United States
My husband and I met in 2003. Four years later, on July 27, 2007, we had our first date. Tucker was deployed to Iraq September,2007-November,2008 and Afghanistan February, 2010-February, 2011. Through dedication and persistence we maintained a strong connection and grew in our relationship. Although Tucker was away he was helpful in planning our dream wedding. Choosing our date was a challenge due to not knowing when Tucker would return home. We had a long journey to get here…eight years of friendship, four years of dating, and two deployments later we are happily married.

Van and Noelle

Warrenton, VA, United States
We dated in high school but growing pains began sneaking in, and we broke up after 7 years. My heart was truly meant for Van though and realized you don’t realize how much something means to you until you set it free. We reunited and Van proposed and we were officially engaged 2 days before Christmas. Our venue, Airlie, was stunningly beautiful! I fell in love with my Jim Hjelm dress the moment I put it on and knew that was the only designer I wanted to try on. I and it truly was my dream dress!

Julie and Tony were married at the historic Bodley-Bullock House in downtown Lexington. The whole day shown with sophisticated southern details that enhanced the bride and grooms infectious attitude for fun and togetherness. Julie wanted to plan a wedding that felt, “sophisticated and classic, but not pretentious or overdone”.

Ed and Julie

New York, NY, United States
Ed and Julie had one goal while planning their wedding, and that was to make it FUN! The wedding ceremony was scheduled to take place in Central Park, but days before the wedding they were forced to change the ceremony location due to weather conditions. Fortunately their alternative location (The Divine Studio) provided a stunning, light filled back drop for their wedding photo’s. For the reception they chose their favorite spot in Brooklyn, The Gutter. Ed and Julie’s guests danced to a New Orleans Jazz band, while feasting on BBQ and bowling all night.

Darren and Mandi

Portland, OR, United States
Darren and I went to the same high school and let’s just say I was dying to know everything about him. We had mutual friends and so we began to hang out often. Years went on, I moved on from my high school crush, we stayed friends…best friends. Skip ahead to November 2008. We slowly began to date, but both didn’t say a word because we didn’t want to jinx it… 1 month later (Okay so maybe more like 3 days!), I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him!

We wanted our wedding to reflect us in as many ways as possible. We used handmade, vintage, and well-loved elements in as many aspects as possible. The dress worked perfectly for a simple and elegant feel. It also matched the handmade veil beautifully. Above all, we wanted to have a good time surrounded by our loved ones: dancing the night away was the best way we knew how!

William and Mallory

Charlotte, NC, United States
William and I had a year and half engagement which gave me more than enough time to plan my perfect wedding. I scoured magazines and blogs for inspiration. After doing much research I learned: I love glamour and glitz, I love draping, I love the colors black, gray, blush and ivory, I love big flower arrangements and I love ruffles and bows. Fashion is a passion of mine so searching for bridesmaid’s dresses with my mom and maid of honor was a blast. After months of trying on many dresses we discovered the stunning graphite Jim Hjelm dress. Perfection.

Erik and Ashley

Morristown, NJ, United States
Our goal was to throw an amazing, “funky garden party.” Throughout the planning, everything seemed to fall into place. My Jim Hjelm dress was everything I could have ever dreamed. The Conservatory was the perfect décor to carry out our theme. We chose to have a day event, which allowed the room to really shine, and thanks to the florist, it was bursting with color! The reception lasted until 5 p.m. at which point, we had transportation from the hotel into the town center, where we extended the party to a fun bar!

Tony and Brandi

Kingsport, TN, United States
Getting married outside in Tennessee’s amazing autumn weather was obviously an easy choice! Other than an outdoor wedding, lace dress, and cowboy boots, we were up for just about anything. After choosing my ivory Jim Hjelm dress, Corral boots, and handmade jewelry, I was set. The handsome groom debuted in a brown pinstriped suit, cognac striped tie, and Ariat boots. The weather was perfect, my make-up was still shine free by aisle time, and the groom was amazing….what more could you ask for?!

Frank and I were married on a summer evening at the Jonathan Edwards winery in Stonington , CT. Everything looked so beautiful that day, such as the winery, the weather, my gorgeous flowers, the tent, and best of all my handsome husband ! I just floated around the whole evening absolutlely glowing wearing the gown of my dreams holding the hand of the man of my dreams! If I could relive that night, the only thing I would do differently is remember to eat something !

Derek and Rebecca

South Haven, MI, United States
We were married in South Haven, Mich. in the garden of a family member’s home, off of the lake. The setting was ideal – a warm sunny day, a yard full of beautiful flowers, and a sparkler “toast” to end the night. To complement our rustic garden theme, I wanted an ethereal gown and fell in love with the combination of lace and tulle of this style. It was clear this was the perfect choice for me the moment I tried it on. Our favorite wedding day moment was our “first look” which brought tears to both of our eyes!

Rich and Abby

Philadelphia, PA, United States

My husband, Rich, and I got married on May 28, 2011 in Philadelphia. Luckily, we had a gorgeous day because my parents had worked for months to make their backyard look like paradise and they succeeded! It was the perfect setting to take pictures with my bridal party before leaving for the church. It just so happened that BOTH dresses were Jim Hjelm! It was obvious I was naturally drawn to the style. My wedding dress and the bridesmaid dresses complimented each other perfectly.
