Our small minimony had been set since January, pre-pandemic. We wanted to celebrate with close friends and family in the place we most love to spend our time. Almost every weekend we head to the lakes and mountains in the Adirondack Park near our home in Upstate New York. We knew that having a weekend celebration here would most feel like "us." What we didn't know was that after a long period of lockdown in New York, this weekend in the end of October would feel like a getaway for all those invited.
All favors in our guests welcome bags and the cake and desserts were from locally highlighted vendors. All of the florals were locally grown in Upstate NY by two flower farms. Our officiant was the groom's uncle and godfather. Our ceremony was held in the Great Room of a historic camp that is now a resort on Fourth Lake. All of these details made for an intimate gathering showcasing our beloved Adirondack Park and it felt uniquely us. For family and candid photos we were able to stand the cold weather in late October in order to have the lake and mountains as a backdrop. We moved to a cocktail hour serving specially ordered champagne from the Finger Lakes region and dinner was a gourmet family style meal featuring a rich autumn menu. After the dinner and desserts, the guests changed into something cozy and headed down to the casual bar onsite appropriately named the Lean To and sat around a bonfire roasting smores.
