Hannah and Jacob
Jacob and I met while attending Michigan State University. After graduating, we reconnected and began dating. We had a special engagement in Northern Michigan overlooking Lake Michigan from a cliff, and Jacob surprised me by having both of our families waiting at the lake house to celebrate that evening. We call Southwest Michigan home.
We were married in the same chapel and hosted our reception at the same venue as my parents 28 years ago. Both locations are very near to my heart. My grandmother died eight years ago, and it has been heavy on our hearts while planning our wedding, as she was the matriarch and rock of the family who raised six smart, kind daughters. None of her daughters chose to wear her veil for any of their own weddings, but it worked perfectly with my Lazaro gown. I went to the salon with my mom on a whim, wanting to try on a Hayley Paige gown I had seen in a magazine. The consultant put me in this Lazaro gown first, and that was the end. It was the perfect combination of classic and sexy for my wedding. Even better, my grandmother's vintage veil from the 1950's was the absolute perfect accent with the lace in my gown. So, I was lucky enough to wear my grandmother's veil as my "something old", and I know I had her on my shoulder the entire day. While the weather did not cooperate for our wedding, it helped our pictures turn out extremely unique and special thanks to the wonderful work of Kathy Davies Photography on the roof of the Detroit Athletic Club. (And thankfully, all of our events were planned indoors).
