Anthony and I went on a blind date in the winter of 2010 and I never could have imagined how my life would instantly change from that day forward. Anthony was so genuine, sweet, honest, smart, and funny; I had never met anyone like him. Just a few days shy of our one year anniversary Anthony proposed with a stunning ring hidden in my Christmas stocking. We decided to have our wedding in Boston, the city we call home, and knew that the State Room would be the perfect place. On a beautiful, sunny, Sunday in January, Anthony and I exchanged vows in front of our closest family and friends AND in front of the most magnificent view in all of Boston. It was an unforgettable day, filled with lots of laughs, tears (happy, of course), smiles, and most importantly- lots of dancing!

We were married on a warm summer afternoon in a Catholic Church surrounded by our loving family and friends. The theme of the wedding was ‘vintage glam’ and this was accented throughout the details and decor, from crystal earrings and bangles, pretty parasols, pink and off-white garden roses filled galvanized buckets to chandelier-like table centerpieces. Our reception was held at a Country Club, and while our guests enjoy the cocktail hour on a outdoor balcony overlooking the green, we enjoyed our alone time in the surrounding gardens. It truly was a dream come true.This was the fifth dress I tried on and I knew it was “the one”. I could just tell as soon as I stepped into it and I did not want to take it off! The crystal and bugle beaded bodice inspired me and became our theme throughout the wedding – as soon as I said “yes to the dress”! I selected the ivory silk ribbon and had my seamstress fold it over to make a thinner sash. I wanted to show off as much of the beautiful crystal bodice as I could! The sash definitely completed the look. My bridesmaids wore Jim Hjelm Occasions dress style 5226. The luminescent chiffon really shimmered in the summer sun and my bridesmaids felt so comfortable in them. It was a win-win!

Our wedding was held in the historic Hilton Netherland Plaza in downtown Cincinnati on November 2, 2012. The hotel is elaborately decorated in French Art Deco style so we chose colors to compliment it’s beauty. We wanted my girls to have an elegant, classic look which fit perfectly with the Alvina Valenta and Jim Hjelm Occasions gowns. We went with long purple dresses and I loved that all of the girls could select the gown that fit her body and personality best! Our day was perfect and my girls looked amazing!

While planning our wedding at the Country Club at Mirasol, I knew I needed a dress that was glamorous and romantic, but also “me”. The minute I tried on this Lazaro gown, I knew it was the one. From the textured organza skirt to the bead encrusted bodice, it had everything I wanted in a wedding dress.
We had a sunset ceremony on a breezy day in November. Just before I walked down the aisle, it began to pour! Luckily, the rain passed and I made my way down the aisle in my gorgeous Lazaro gown. It was perfection!

John proposed to me in the White House Rose Garden last September in a moment that still seems like a dream, so to top it off, it seemed only fitting that we were married in Mother Nature’s garden. Colorado has been suffering one of it’s worst droughts in history but there was no shortage of rain the week of our wedding. The rained stopped and the clouds parted exactly 20 minutes before our ceremony. The whole day was bliss. Pure bliss.Veil – Lazaro (I believe 815)
Shortly, before the wedding, we found out I was expecting and was about 5 months along to boot. In a late night panic, I purchased an Ulla-Maija gown I’d tried on last fall that was in my “top 3″. The consensus from my girlfriends back then was that the empire waist of the Ulla-Maija gown made me look pregnant. Well, low and behold, that very statement came true and the store happened to be selling their sample months later. The thought of not being able to wear my dream gown, the Alvina Valenta, was devastating. We brought both dresses to Colorado for the wedding and decided I’d make a game time decision on which to wear. In what had to have been a miracle and some crazy contortions on the part of our lil’ bun in the oven, I was able to get into the Alvina. Phew! Wedding saved and one happy and pleasantly surprised bride/mother-to-be =)

To set the tone, we of course had to choose a unique venue – The Liberty Hotel in Boston. We were married at Serenbe, a sustainable farm resort in rural Georgia. We rented the entire resort to create an intimate weekend affair for our guests with many scheduled activities. The weather was flawless. The ceremony was held in a field under a fully bloomed lilac tree while a classical guitar played. I was barefoot, carried peonies, and wore a birdcage veil. The reception was under an open-air lakefront pavilion with an 8-piece Motown band. A firework show finished the night. My dog was in the wedding and wore a flower made from lace from my gown.
